We Have a Beautiful Mother-
We have a beautiful
mother
Her green lap
immense
Her brown embrace
eternal
Her blue body
everything
we know.
- Alice Walker
Okay, so I'm having a bad day. I'm throwing my own little pity party and the great thing is-if you don't want to come, you don't have to and I'll never be none the wiser.
My husband is high maintenance. Special diet. Lots of meds. Strict intake/output monitoring. I do all this. He couldn't do it for himself.
Babyman is *EXTREMELY* high maintenance. The "EE". The allergies. The attachment. The lack of support. His meds. His diet. His doctors. My diet. I take care of all this too. His dad has never made the effort to learn anything about this.
The 13 year old. Suddenly he thinks he's an adult in this house. He hasn't exactly had the best role models in life on how a man should act so he's not real good at pretending to be a grown up. However, he's REALLY good at being a disrespectful, smart mouth punk, who bullies his little brother and cusses his mother then waits for his dad to defend him when mom tries to punish. But, I digress.
Here it is 1:12 am on Wednesday morning. I'm up because everyone else is not. Make sense?
I went to bed at like 7. They trashed the kitchen. They drank the last of MY Pepsi. They were loud. They don't care.
We as moms try to teach them things that will help them function as contributing members of society when they grow up right? Why can't they just see that now and say "oh yeah. mom does know what she's talking about" but no. everygthing has to be challenged. I know I'm not alone in this. Why do they do this?
So at midnight I was cleaning up their mess they left from supper because it's not going to do it itself. They will get up in the morning and demand breakfast and get it at the clean kitchen table. Not even pausing for a minute to think "hey, there were messy chili bowls on the table when I went to bed. Where did they go?"
And thus the thanklessness begings.
I got yelled at for threatening to quit.
He said how lousy I was for "quitting my kids"
Is it really quitting if you just need to walk away for a minute?
I'll come back, I promise.
I couldn't give this up. Not for long.
Just need a break sometimes. Is that too much to ask for?
